A Journey Rooted in Seva

Maanava Sevaaye Madhava Seva
Service to Humanity is Service to God

The history of Sai Yadadri Seva Ashramam is a story of faith expressed through service. What began with a desire to care for those who needed support has grown into a continuing journey of compassion, collective responsibility and devotion.

At the heart of this journey is the belief that spirituality is not limited to prayer or worship. It is also expressed through caring for another person, sharing food, offering support in times of need and creating a place where every individual is treated with dignity.

The Beginning

The seeds of the Ashram's service journey were sown in 2019 under the vision and leadership of Sri Debbadi Ashok, a BSNL Executive who was already involved in running an old age home at Sai Lingi Village in Adilabad District.

With a desire to extend this spirit of service further, Sri Debbadi Ashok joined hands with like-minded BSNL employees, including serving and retired employees, as well as socially conscious citizens.

Together, they envisioned an organisation where people could come together not simply as donors or volunteers, but as a community united by a shared purpose — to serve humanity with compassion and devotion.

This vision became the foundation for the establishment of the Hyderabad chapter of Sai Yadadri Seva Ashramam.

From a Vision to a Community

The early journey was driven by a small group of people who believed that meaningful social change begins with individual responsibility.

The founding members contributed their resources, time and commitment to establish a sustainable foundation for the Ashram's work. Their collective effort gradually brought together a wider circle of people who shared the same values.

Over time, this community grew into a network of more than 100 members, united by the desire to support the Ashram and its service activities.

The growth of the Ashram has therefore never been only about buildings or facilities. Its greatest strength has been the growing community of people who believe in seva.

2019 — The Vision Takes Shape

2019 marked an important beginning in the Ashram's journey.

The vision of creating a stronger and wider support system for vulnerable people began taking shape through the efforts of Sri Debbadi Ashok, fellow BSNL employees and socially conscious citizens.

The founding vision was simple yet profound:

To create a place where care, dignity and compassion could become a part of everyday life.

2020 — The Old Age Home

A significant milestone came in February 2020, when the Free Old Age Home began operating at Pedakonduru Village, Choutuppal Mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri District.

The Ashram became a place where senior citizens could find shelter, nourishment, companionship and essential support in a peaceful environment.

The facility was made possible through the generosity of Smt. & Sri Mayreddi Satyanarayana Reddy and Janakamma, who donated the building for the Ashram's service.

Their contribution became an important part of the Ashram's history and helped provide a lasting foundation for its residential care.

A Home Built on Dignity

The Free Old Age Home has a capacity of 40 permanent residents.

But the purpose of the home extends beyond providing a roof over someone's head.

It seeks to create an environment where residents can experience:

  • Safety
  • Nourishment
  • Companionship
  • Care
  • Spiritual wellbeing
  • Daily engagement
  • Dignity and respect

Prayer, meditation, yoga, bhajans, games and walking form part of the daily rhythm of life at the Ashram.

In this way, the Ashram strives to make the home a place of belonging rather than simply a place of residence.

The Journey Expands

As the Ashram developed, its understanding of seva expanded beyond residential care.

The organisation began supporting other areas where assistance could make a meaningful difference, including:

Annaprasadam

Sharing nutritious food became an important expression of seva. Individuals and families can also associate their special occasions with the Ashram through meal sponsorship.

Education

The Ashram extended its service towards education by supporting students through educational resources, tuition assistance and related initiatives.

Medical Support

Medical camps, eye camps, cataract-surgery assistance and support for people facing chronic illness became part of the organisation's wider service efforts.

Goseva

The Ashram's Goshala became another expression of compassion, with care extended to cows and calves and dedicated land used for fodder cultivation.

Daily Seva

Prayer, meditation, yoga, bhajans, games and walking contribute to the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of residents.

Growing Through Collective Giving

The Ashram's journey has been sustained by the collective contribution of its community.

The initial foundation was supported by the founding members, who contributed significant personal resources towards establishing the organisation.

As the Ashram grew, members, donors, volunteers and well-wishers continued to contribute according to their ability and commitment.

This spirit of collective giving remains central to the Ashram's journey.

The strength of Sai Yadadri Seva Ashramam is therefore not measured only by its facilities or activities, but by the people who continue to stand behind its mission.

A Spiritual Journey Through Service

The Ashram's journey is deeply connected to the principle:

Maanava Sevaaye Madhava Seva
Service to Humanity is Service to God.

For the Ashram, seva is a form of spiritual practice.

A meal offered with love, time spent with an elderly resident, support given to a student, assistance offered during a medical crisis or care extended to an animal can all become expressions of devotion.

This understanding gives the Ashram's work its spiritual character.

The journey is not simply about providing services. It is about recognising the dignity of every life and responding with compassion.

The People Behind the Journey

Every milestone in the Ashram's history has been made possible through people.

From the founders who gave the first direction, to members who contribute regularly, donors who support specific needs, volunteers who give their time and well-wishers who continue to encourage the organisation — the Ashram's history belongs to a collective community.

Their contribution has helped transform an initial vision into an ongoing movement of service.

The Journey Continues

The story of Sai Yadadri Seva Ashramam is still being written.

From its beginnings in 2019, to the establishment of the Free Old Age Home in February 2020, and the continuing expansion of its service initiatives, the Ashram has grown through faith, commitment and collective effort.

Its journey continues with the same foundational belief:

When we serve another human being with compassion, we are serving something divine.

The future of the Ashram rests on continuing this spirit of seva — strengthening care for senior citizens, supporting education and healthcare, nurturing community participation and creating opportunities for more people to experience the joy of service.

A Journey of Seva, A Journey of Hope

Sai Yadadri Seva Ashramam began with a vision.
It grew through collective faith.
It was strengthened through generosity.
And it continues through seva.

As the Ashram moves forward, its purpose remains unchanged:

To serve with compassion.
To care with dignity.
To give with devotion.

Maanava Sevaaye Madhava Seva.
Service to Humanity is Service to God.
